Řepiště lies on both sides of the historic provincial boundary between Moravia and Silesia. The village was first mentioned in 1450.

The wooden Church of St Michael the Archangel, dating from 1484–1485, stands within the village cemetery. Earthwork remains of the Zapadlisko stronghold, dating from the turn of the 13th and 14th centuries, survive on a wooded terrace above the Ostravice River near Řepiště.
